You need to find to recognise the difference between physical and emotional hunger

Physical hunger builds up gradually, starting with the tiny grumbling in the stomach growing to full hunger pains. Emotional hunger develops suddenly. Emotional hunger seems to demand immediate satisfaction. Physical hunger usually appears 3 hours after the last meal. Emotional hunger can happen anytime. After eating for physical hunger the hunger goes away; after emotional eating the hunger persists. After eating for physical hunger you get satisfaction, after eating for emotional reasons you feel guilty. Usually emotional hunger appears with specific foods while physical hunger comes on with any food.

If you want to get leaner you must establish your caloric deficit, which means you are probably going to be hungry sometimes between meals.

The caloric deficit must be no more than 10% of the total daily caloric allowance . On low calorie diets a woman’s menstrual cycle may stops and a man’s testosterone level plummets.
